Poor Matting is Dangerous to Your Artwork

Improper matting can damage your art.  Florida Frame House and Gallery recommends acid-free conservation board.  This matboard is an alfa cellulose matboard made of pristine virgin fibers. It is acid-free and lignin-free with consistent color, fade and bleed resistance. Its core color is bright white and is recommended for use with original artwork, limited editions, and other valuable or valued artworks.  Acid-free conservation board contains no wood pulp, which can “burn” paper, causing it to turn brown or brittle and fall apart.

Most museum curators recommend using acid-free conservation board.
